SCENES FROM A SISTAH by Lolita Files, a first novel in the style of Waiting to Exhale, recounts the adventures and loves of two independent-minded, free-spirited black women--Misty Fine and Reesy Snowden--who have been friends since childhood, as they make their way across the country.
Upwardly mobile executive Misty Fine is serious, striving, and able to accomplish anything---except getting the real deal out of the men in her life. Reesy Snowden is brilliant and outrageously upfront- -juggling undemanding jobs by day and exotic dancing by night. Best friends forever, they can always count on each other as they negotiate a very modern world of insecure success and a never-ending number of sexy men. But when Misty gets the promotion of a lifetime and takes Reesy along for the ride, hidden conflicts and unexpected consequences will put more than they bargained for at risk. And to rediscover what they value most, Misty and Reesy will have to challenge each other past true frienddship's wildest, most surprising, and outrageous limits.
Lolita Files is the former National Communications Director for KinderCare Learning Centers. She lives in New York City and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and has also written Getting To the Good Part (sequel to Scenes From a Sistah), Blind Ambitions, and Child of God (to be released in September 2001).
