EBONY PAGES 11TH ANNIVERSARY

We held our first meeting on September 21, 2000. Since that time, we have read many genres of books and have had over 20 different members. Currently, we have 13 members who are all dedicated readers and six of whom are part of the original 9 members.

Community Service
Ebony Pages Bookclub also aspires to make a difference in our community. Part of that focus is to increase literacy. In the past ten years, we have donated books to 10 different schools and hosted two Literary Salons with a total of 10 authors in attendance. As part of our community focus, we have supported two area families for Christmas and supported the Central Children's Home four straight years.

Author Friends
We like to have fun at our meetings. We have hosted five bookclub meetings with the authors themselves in attendance. Not to mention attending numerous literary events and author signings for authors such as E. Lynn Harris, Eric Jerome Dickey and Michele Andrea Bowen. We even attended the book launch for "Defining Moments" by our very special author friend, Jacquelin Thomas. Our annual Brothers Meeting is another special meeting. We invite the men in our lives to discuss a book of their choice. Those meetings are always very enlightening.

Ebony Pages Family
Our Ebony Pages family itself has grown over the years ...we've had two members to get married and we've welcomed 8 babies. Whew! We've been busy, and we have no intention of slowing down. Stay tuned for more from Ebony Pages Book Club.
