We held our first meeting on September 21, 2000 and we are happy that we are still going strong. Currently, we have 11 members who are all dedicated readers and six of whom are part of the original 9 members.
To celebrate our 9th anniversary, we decided on the theme: "We Are Family!" and had our usual Family Day Cookout. This year, we invited all former members and their families as well as our family at the Central Children's Home. Even the rain couldn't stop us from having a wonderful time. (see our photos)
We've been busy over the last year and we have no intention of slowing down. Check out what we've been up to in our Special Events, Service Projects and Photo Gallery.

We would like to thank all of our site visitors for your emails and suggestions. We have made an addition to and removal from the site. We have recently added a rating on all the books that we've read. The rating is based on the cumulative votes from our bookclub members. We have removed the National Black-owned bookstore listing. Unfortunately due to the economy, many of these bookstores have closed. And due to the sheer numbers, we are not able to maintain this page with accurate information. We will however continue to list our local bookstores and black-owned bookstores in NC. We apologize for the inconvenience.
