EBONY PAGES MISSION PROJECT

The Ebony Pages Book Club is hosting our 3rd annual Mission Project in the month of July. We will be supporting the Urban Ministries of Durham by ollecting non-perishable food items (quality perishable foods, canned goods, toilet paper, diapers, baby food, etc.) as well as providing financial support to the organization.

Urban Ministries of Durham
This agency is a private 501(c) 3 non-profit organization governed by an 18-member Board of Directors with 27 staff members and over 2,000 volunteers. Urban Ministries of Durham distinguishes itself from other organizations that care for Durham's homeless and indigent population by serving as a comprehensive service provider of food, shelter, clothing and supportive services for over 6,000 men, women and children annually. Urban Ministries of Durham operates the Community Food Pantry and Clothing Closet. These programs address basic emergency needs for food, clothing and hygiene supplies. In fiscal year 2010-2011, the Food Pantry distributed 89,720 pounds of food, a 32% increase over last year, while the Clothing Closet distributed 41,747 articles of clothing.
